At A Canine Understanding, we offer Beginning Obedience Classes in the Park, where you and your dog can grow together in an engaging, real-world setting. Our classes, offered Spring through Fall, are designed to teach your dog essential skills in an environment filled with distractions — helping you build focus and reliability, no matter what life throws your way.

We focus on positive reinforcement techniques, ensuring that training is not only effective but also fun for you and your dog. You’ll both enjoy the process while reaching your goals!

What You’ll Learn in This 6-Week Course:

• Beginning Leash Manners

• Sit, Down, and Stay

• Come (because every dog should come when called!)

• Relax in Place — helping your dog settle down and stay calm

• Polite Greetings — teach your dog to say hello without jumping up

Additionally, we’ll dive into important topics like:

• Teaching Impulse Control

• Setting clear rules and boundaries at home

• How to move past unwanted behaviors (such as jumping up)

Class Details:

• Our classes are run on a positive reinforcement platform; therefore, the use of e-collars during class or outside of class while enrolled in any of our programs is strictly prohibited. 

• Vaccination Requirements: Current DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines

• Equipment Needed by First Day of Class: Treat bag and 6ft leash. 

• Cost: $220 for 6 weeks of fun and learning

• Class size: Limited to 4 dogs to ensure personalized attention and support

• Ideal for: Dogs aged 6 months and older

Location: Various parks throughout the area — check each scheduled class for the exact location.

This class is not suitable for dogs with a history of leash reactivity or aggression towards people, other dogs, or animals.
